TO BRA OR NOT TO BRA

on underwear as a layering tool

It's a normal tuesday afternoon, i'm going for lunch with friends, except its not quite that vanilla because, gasp, my tee is transparent. I sometimes wear items of clothing just to see a reaction because you can't bet your bell bottoms that at least one person has a corrosive opinion on the matter, whatever it might be at the time. 

Now I am not one for tight dresses, parading my teats on show, but I am real fond of the underwear as outerwear trend we see unfolding before our eyes. Not quite as offensive as Alexander McQueen's thong-athon and not nearly as promiscuous as Herve Leger's body con craze. 

It was only a matter of time that this trend caught on again, subconsciously everyone has been sporting this look, i've been doing it since my school years when I wore a black bra underneath my white shirt. This was a subconscious effort because either A) I didn't give a fuck or B) I wasn't even aware at the time that my shirt was relatively see through. 

I recall a girl at my school announcing that her mother told her that 'only sluts wear black bras'. This was most notably directed towards myself, but it was strange concept to me as one, we were only thirteen at the time and two, I was attending an all girls school. Same sex questions aside i'm not the only example I have witnessed donning the same technique and for whatever reason this was carried out with it has gone from an innocent choice to an in your face I put that black bra there statement. 

Which I think is something to celebrate. I propose we start to wear them on our heads a la Tit Head from Little Nicky. An unlikely style icon but a redeemable one all the same.
